Re: (meteorobs) Aids for night vision?

Dextrose tablets give some extra energy that helps when getting a bit tired or
cold. The effect however is quite short-lasting. And perhaps there'll be a
negative fall back some time afterwards just as one of the earlier contributors
to this discussion explained for hot drinks.

From long distance ice skating experience, I do know that settling down for a
hot drink certainly is not a good idea. Usually, you have a problem keeping
your legs going afterwards. I'm not sure however whether this is due to the
drink or just due to stopping the exercise for some time to get the drink.

So while HOT drinks are perhaps not a good idea, a (not too) warm cup of coffee
midway the night at least subjectively in my experience does help to get me
going. The cafeine in it will help, and perhaps after some time (it needs to be
broken down first) the sugar if you put it in as well (I basically drink sugar
with some cofee..... ;-) )

Generally, having a snack (candy-bar, sandwich) at regular intervals during
long observing sessions in my opinion does benefit me. Certainly beneficial is
having a good meal a few hours in advance of your session. Empty stomachs make
me drop-out quickly. It's all about keeping the little energy generator in you
going. While food digestion takes energy, it also produces warmth and new
spirit.
