(meteorobs) About magnitudes



Hi,

   I'm little lost with magnitudes.  Since the magnitude of a full
moon is -12.5, does this number represent the light coming from the
whole moon's disk (not just moon's surface brightness)?

   So, if a fireball, more or less a point source, is rated as
magnitude -12.5, does it light the ground as brightly as a full
moon?
