(meteorobs) Travel plans: Taiwan

I have plans to travel to Taiwan, as we Europeans have no own maximum or
even an secondary peak! The other alternative is South Korea (no sense to go
on monsoons in Guam!). Taiwan may be better, as there is possible to go up
to 3000 meters or more.
Does somebody have any experience about clouds on the mountains versus sea
shore? How much better prospects are on the mountains for clear skies?
In 1998 I was in China (under good skies at Great Wall) and in 1999 in
Tunisia (only breaks on cloud cover). In 2000 I stayed in Finland and was
able to find quite good sky just near the Russian border (less than 10 km
from the border!) in the south-eastern Finland.
My meteor page can be found on http://www.saunalahti.fi/fmbb/astro/ (click
meteorit).
