Subject: {MPML} Damn!
I probably missed the sight of my life tonight. I was inside reducing data
while the telescope and camera toiled away making another exposure when I
heard a 'boom' about 0715 UT. 'What the hell was that' I wondered, so I
stepped outside to check on the observatory. There was a train, presumably
from a bolide or piece of space junk (Mir?), from horizon to horizon.
Roughly from just North of East to just South of West (or vice versa?). It
lasted a good five minutes or more. I roused my wife from a deep slumber
and she was able to see the faded remnant in the West.
I suppose it will be on the news channels tomorrow, but does anyone know
what it was?
