(meteorobs) Digging up in archives

Hello!

While cleaning up at home have found my old plot of Perseid meteors
during the night of August 12/13, 1989. Scanned it and uploaded to my
Astronomy Home Page http://hea.iki.rssi.ru/~denis/astro.html. It's on
millimetric paper (pardon the color!) with bright stars drawn by
pencil. Star coordinates in gnomonic projection were determined with
a calculator (remember - it was 12 years ago!) using tables from some
astronomy handbook.

Meteor paths are drawn using a ruler with hand probably shaken at
number 56. :-) Meteor 46 points at Capella. Note also number 38
originating not from main radiant but from the secondary one near
alpha Persei.

This year's Perseids will be nicely accompanied by Jupiter in Gemini
in the morning (just like 12 years ago) together with Venus
(conjunction on Aug. 5/6), yet the old Moon will pass near Saturn on
Aug. 13/14 (will there be an occultation is Israel, Asaf?). Should be
a nice photo opportunity! Yet August 12th is Sunday as well as April
22th when maximum of Lyrids is expected near the new Moon.

Hungry for meteors,

Denis
