Re: (meteorobs) Lyrids

Hi, Ed, Mark, Pierre and all,

I thought it was said the rate would reach the maximum at 4h UT today, so
the best place to observe this shower should be North America.

Some observers watched the sky here last whole night, and Jin has sent all
their reports out. Most of last night, the Lyrid looked common. But it
seemed to be a very short "high rate" period at about 19h25m UT. The
recorder I used broke down for a while between 19h15m and 19h21m, as a
result, 4 meteors records were lost, or the ZHR of this short "high rate"
period may be higher. And we were told that the rate of last night (21/22)
was even a bit lower than it of the night 20/21 by a observer who observed
on 20/21, too.

I think it's best to go on to observe the Lyrid tonight, but is the rate of
this shower high enough to set up a spectrograph?

All best wishes and Clear skies!
