-------------------------------------------------------
REMARKS:
- recording time/meteor: 2 sec
- DCV is distance of meteor from centre of view
- LEN is length of meteor in degrees
- temperature cool, about 10C
- meteor #1 at 2.40 UT - crossed Coma Berenices, diffuse meteor -
nebulous - from Sagittarid radiant
- meteor #3 at 2.54 UT - Lyrid, very low along the horizon, orangish
colour - beautiful!
- aurora - low glow in north after about 3.00 UT
- Coma Berenices nice and grainy
- could see 5 stars on the left side of the bowl of Ursa Minor
- could easily see the central star in the head of Draco
- nice night, lots of sounds of Canada geese flying overhead
- first observing session from new location!
- Satellites visible:
- 20.43 local time - saw the International Space Station (docked to the
shuttle) go over, predicted mag was 0.8 - but it was much brighter,
estimated -3
- 2.22 UT - bowl of Ursa Major to Bootes, later confirmed as Cosmos 2297
Rocket
- 2.35 UT - below Benetnatch towards pointers of Ursa Minor, mag 4
- 2.38 UT - below Benetnatch to below pointers of Ursa Minor, mag 4.5
- 2.49 UT - from Cor Caroli, over Benetnatch towards loop of Draco, mag
3.5, later confirmed as Cosmos 2322 Rocket
- 2.56 UT - from lower left star of Ursa Major's bowl towards Polaris,
mag 5.5
- 3.40 UT - from Polaris to top right star of bowl of Ursa Major, mag
4.5, later confirmed as ADEOS Rocket
- 3.50 UT - from Ursa Major across Draco to horizon about 10 degrees
left of Deneb
- Note: satellites checked after observing session using
www.heavens-above.com to determine their identity, if listed on the site
