(meteorobs) Eta Aquarids update - FM obs.
Meteor report on FM for the Eta Aquarids
Hi all
The Eta Aquarids had a small outburst on the 1/5/01 with 4 short (but
intense) 20 sec. trains on 98.5 between 1900 - 2200 UTC. Ping rates were
around 40 - 60 ZHR.
The predicted peak for the Eta Aquarids was for 2300 UTC on the 5th.
Well, I noticed the peak at 23:35 UTC (pretty good prediction!) & noted 3 or
4 persistant trains between 23:35 & 1200 UTC. Earlier ones at 1720 & another
one at 21:58 UTC on the 5th.
98.5 - x5 trains - longest 1:13min - Maryborough QLD
93.9 - x3 trains - longest 56sec - mix of Tamworth NSW & Bundaberg QLD
100.3 - x2 trains at 30sec each approx. either Armidale NSW or Mackay QLD
105.3 - x1 at 25 sec - Brisbane QLD.
93.1 - x1 at 1:15 - Mass of stations!
I ran 3 receivers at irregular intervals. One train was captured on all 3
receivers tuned to 3 different frequencies.
Lets hope the 6th & 7th May yield more!
