(meteorobs) Eta aquarids update 7th may
Eta Aquarid update 7-5-01
Got up this morning hoping to get only one train at best
But to my surprise, I got 8! A big out burst from the Eta's. From 19:15 -
21:15 UTC (0500 - 0715 LT)
Results
98.5 Maryborough x4 longest = 1:10min
100.3 x3 trains @ 15 - 20 sec each
88.5 Gold Coast x1 @ 46 sec with weather forecast
105.3 Brisbane with comedy sketch, station ID & song by the band "The Real
McCoy" at 1:10 min
To think I nearly didn't get out of bed either this morning! I still got to
play my tapes for 99.7 & 106.1 off my car radio. So there may have been more
trains captured.
Correction to the 5-5-01. Peak of Eta Aquraids was from 23:35 - 00:00 (NOT
1200 UTC as I put). I'm not used to using UTC so please forgive any errors!
All stuff heard during morning LT. My listening done from 0400 - 1000 LT.
RE: Japan radio monitor - Difference may be that I listen to FM & not VHF
beacons & I lsten by ear not via computer system. You're on the same side of
the international date line as Oz - time diff about 1 - 3 hours? Possible
latitudal differences also come into consideration.
BTW - If anyone was wondering - the weather here was cloudy for the entire
Eta's. Still yet to see my 1st train!
