Re: (meteorobs) Mars

I don't know if this will work, but I get these e-mails and I don't really
understand many of them.  But I figured you guys on this list would be
equipped to help me the best.  I am a single working mother of 2 in love with
space science.  I am on all kinds of e-mail lists from Nasa and stuff.  I
recently read that Mars will be in great view from now through the month of
June.  I live on Long Island in New York, not the greatest spot for checking
out the stars due to the big city lights, but my son is going camping this
upcoming weekend and I was hoping someone could help me explain to him how to
find it in the sky.  He will be in perfect viewing area and I plan to make
his father bring his telescope he got for Christmas.  I think I read if you
look in the southern sky it will be the brightest star with a tint of orange
to it.  I have been looking the last few clear days but have been unable to
determine which one it is.  Any help anyone could give me would be greatly
appreciated.  I hope to one day learn how to understand the constellations so
I could better educate my children in a love I have already passed down to
them.  Thank you for any help anyone could give me.  Terri
