Re: (meteorobs) May 30 Observations from California USA

May 30 - weather was excellent in the San Francisco Bay Area, with crystal clear skies and
no interference from the ocean fog. California Meteor Society members Mike Koop and Dave
Holman operated intensified cameras from San Jose and Oakland, respectively, while Peter
Jenniskens set up shop in the small tourist town of San Juan Bautista. The general target
area for multi-station observations was chosen above San Jose, Oakland being 60 km to the
north and San Juan Bautista being 60 km to the south-south-west. A CCD spectrograph was
operated at San Juan Bautista. Observations commenced at 8h UT and were ended just after
12 UT at dawn. No meteors from Swassmann-Wachmann 3 were reported by the observers during
the camera operations. Peter observed visually during several 15 minute periods around the
anticipated peak, but saw no possible SW-3 meteoroids. The video tapes may have recorded
low-level SW-3 activity, but still need to be examined.
