(meteorobs) P/2001 J1 (NEAT)

A couple of weeks back I noted that the preliminary parabolic orbit for
P/2001 J1 had potential with respect to a meteor shower.

MPEC has published a new set of elliptical elements, based on a longer arc
of observations, and using these elements it now seems that any potential
for a shower is now entirely unlikely.

The improved elements now lead to a "best" d-disc of 0.15, as opposed to
0.002 or less formerly, and the closest the orbits of the comet and Earth
approach each other new turns out to be as much as 0.15 AU, whereas the
earlier elements suggested 0.05 AU.

What a difference a few days make :(

Cheers
