The *times* of the two (main) peaks are stable, and so the visibility
maps - from www.atnf.csiro.au/asa_www/info_sheets/leonids.html - remain
valid: The first peak can be seen best from most of the U.S. just
before dawn, the 2nd one best in East Asia and parts of Australia.

With the uncertainties of the models re. which peak will be the better
one there is already talk about going for both with a plane. And
comparing the maps 2001a and 2001b you will also find out that there
are spots in the world where both can be seen in dark skies.
Unfortunately those are in the Arctic Sea, north of Russia. Does
the IMO own an icebreaker? :-)

P.S.: Here's yet another intriguing item from the conference. A group
of Japanese amateurs has seen a dozen or so daylight meteors during
the Leonids storm peak of 1999 - and, assuming a limiting magnitude of
- -4, calculated a ZHR of 4000. Now they call for an international
campaign to go after the 2001 Leonids in daytime - see
www.nms.gr.jp/research/dayobs for a rudimentary website on that.
