(meteorobs) Re: Florida 2001 Perseid max unimpressive

My experience with the 2001 Perseids closely match that of Norman and
Pierre except that we had a -5 and -6 Perseid fireballs. There were lots
of bright and colorful Perseids with orange being the predominant color
this year. For the full 5 hours I counted of 182 meteors with 135 of
them being Perseids. The highest Perseid hourly count was 35 between
2:47 and 3:47 PDT (0947-1047 UT). The average Perseid magnitude was a
bright +2.01. I would estimate the LM ranged from near +6.5 before
moonrise to +5.5 during the last hour (which produced meager results).

I have had 3 hours of sleep in the last 36 hours so my brain is totally
fried. It's tough having to put in 8 hours of work after a 5 hour watch!

I'll post a more complete report after some sleep.
