REMARKS:
General Comments:
- recording time/meteor: 2 sec
- DCV is distance of meteor from centre of view
- LEN is length of meteor in degrees
- temperature cool, 16C, but lots of mosquitoes after local midnight
- moon a hindrance, but blocked quite well by my large fir tree, and later
by my camera on tripod
- fun evening out in front yard with 3 kids aged 8 to 10, 2 parents, and 3
dogs!
- solo after local midnight, just me and the late night talk show on 'glow
in the dark' red aliens! 8>
Perseid comments:
- meteors #13 and #14, both Perseids at 3.45 UT, paths very close and
parallel, first a 2.0, then a 1.5 PER
- meteor #19, 1.0 mag Perseid at 4.04 UT, extremely low in sky, appeared
average velocity
- meteor #21, 0.5 mag Perseid at 4.43 UT, extremely low in sky, appeared
average velocity and yellow
- meteor #30, -1.0 mag Perseid at 4.59 UT, beautiful yellow Perseid!
- meteor #41, 2.0 mag Perseid at 5.30 UT, very short meteor, less than 1/2
degree long, one of the cutest Perseids I've seen
- meteor #52, -4.0 mag Perseid at 5.48 UT, slightly yellow, almost teardrop
shaped at end, beautiful!
Kappa Cygnid comments:
- 4 Kappa Cygnids seen over the evening - and the nicest surprises of the
night!
- meteor #4, 0.0 mag KCG at 2.57 UT, beautiful, long, slow and yellow...
easily the best meteor of the night!
- meteor #24, 1.5 mag KCG at 4.45 UT, wonderful teardrop shape along its
path, with a wake carried along with the teardrop - one of the prettiest
meteors I've ever seen
Photos taken (not developed yet):
