(meteorobs) Re: NE Pennsylvania Bolide 7/23/01



Judging from the sketch made of the Pennsylvania bolide this is not a
Perseid as it passes at least 25 degrees north of the Perseid radiant
from close range. This is much too far to have any association with the
Perseids. At that time and location the Perseid radiant lies only 3
degrees above the northern horizon. If one projects the path of the
bolide to the due north point (360 degrees) the bolide would be at least
30 degrees in elevation.
