(meteorobs) Re: Comet C/2001 Q2 - response from John Greaves



Following the suggestion to check the fireballs against the pre 1982 orbit
of Rob McNaught, I attempted to do just that, and the matches with the
fireballs disappeared.

I will follow the advice of Esko Lyytinen and wait for a better orbit ;)

Especially as the pre 1982 orbit is not entirely dissimilar to the 1968
apparition/orbit of a lost comet...

...which would make P/2001 Q2 to be a likely candidate for the due return
of 18D/Perrine-Mrkos

Yes, time to wait for a better orbit... ...comets with aphelia near Jupiter
can end up with very similar orbits anyway, and the inclination of this one
doesn't really stop it being an "ecliptic" object.
