Hi everyone,
I don't say very
many things here but just wanted to chip in here and hope
it's ok to do
so. Lew, if it isn't please remove this message if you can and
I'll
understand.
I am an amateur like some of you and am sure I don't know
what even a lot of
amateurs know about our beautiful night skies. I don't
understand about a lot
of the technical jargon posted about as I only took
1 semester of Physics and
2 of Astronomy and each of those were quite some
time ago.
But I for one appreciate the detail that so many of you go
into because I can
no longer go out and observe as I once did. Sometimes,
I sit here and read
your messages and can just visualize what it must have
been like while you
were observing and can feel the wind and feel the
chill of the cold Winter's
night or
the frustration of having to deal
with the full Moon or light pollution and
even those skeeters someone just
wrote about recently!
And isn't that one reason why we are all here?
To discuss something that is
so profound and beautiful and just
extraordinary?
It just seems to me that as large as our Universe is
that there should be
more than enough room for each of us to have his or
her place here on this
list where we can share things and to talk together
and maybe even learn some
new things along the way?
I for one am
very grateful to all of the professionals who take their time to
share
their knowledge on this list and as an amateur, it's a real treat to
hear
where other's like me are coming from too.
Well, I'll be quiet now. I
hope this letter has not offended anyone and if it
has, please accept my
deepest and sincerest apologies.
Thank you,
Michael
