(meteorobs) Meteor Activity Outlook for September 28 - October 4, 2001

The moon is full on Tuesday October 2nd. Observations are possible this
weekend during the last few hours before dawn with the bright moon low
or below the horizon. After the weekend the moon is in the sky the
entire night severely hampering any meteor observing attempts. The
estimated total hourly rates for evening observers this week should be
near 1 for everyone regardless of location. For morning observers the
estimated total hourly rates should be near 7 for the Northern
Hemisphere and 3 for those located in the Southern Hemisphere. These
rates assume that you are watching from rural areas away from all
man-made sources of light pollution. The actual rates will also depend
on factors such as personal light and motion perception, local weather
conditions, alertness and experience in watching for meteor activity.
The positions listed below are exact for Saturday night/Sunday morning
September 29/30. The positions do not change greatly day to day so
these positions may be used during this entire period. The detailed
shower descriptions will return next week when the moon becomes less of
a problem.

Antihelion (Taurids) 01:28 (022) +09
