(meteorobs) 15 Oct 2001 Fireball-B.C./Washington State

A fireball was recorded at Ed Majden's observatory with a Sandia All-sky
Camera on 15 October, 20h 21m 52s P.D.T. at Courtenay, B.C. Reports have
been received as far south as Seattle. Unfortunately all of the reports so
far are on one side of the track. It appears that if it dropped a
meteorite, it probably landed in the Pacific. This remains uncertain so if
you observed or video taped this fireball please submit a report. The
Sandia record shows a bright fireball near the southern horizon moving from
left to right. It is uncertain that the end of the track was observed due
to some obstructions. It seemed to flare up, go out, then reappear again
and finally terminate. Submit any reports to epmajden@home.com
Sadly, the daylight fireball that occurred on 14 Oct was not recorded at
EMO because of cloud cover.

Thanks: Ed Majden - EMO Courtenay Sandia Bolide Detection Station
