(meteorobs) Report for October 17/18, 2001
I got in three hours of Teff this morning under fairly frigid conditions (25 degrees F, dropping to 22). There was a disappointing milky background caused by high cirrus, and this put a slight damper on the LMs. I'm heartened to know that people in the LA basin would kill for skies like this.
The first hour was all-around unimpressive, with only 2 Orionids. The other hours were better with 8 ORI each. Taurids were noticeably active, and the last hour was a surprise with 5 meteors aligning with the Epsilon Geminid radiant.
Right now, the skies are crystal clear, so we'll see what tomorrow morning brings.

REMARKS:
Meteor 19 was very beautiful, a deep reddish-orange and noteworthy for being a slow meteor with a wake.
Meteors 42 and 43 were almost simultaneous and at equal distance from the radiant, but at right angles to one another.
