(meteorobs) NAMN Observations: October 2001

North American Meteor Network
Recent Observations: October 2001

The shower to watch this month was the Orionids and many observers did
enjoy favorable weather around the peak on October 21st. However, many
of them commented on the lack of Orionids this year, although several
folks did say they saw quite a few bright ones. Gregg Pasterick,
observing from California, had the highest hourly rate when he saw 20
during a 1-hour session on October 20/21.

For the month, 23 observers submitted meteor reports. The observers
included:

Jure Atanackov, Slovenia
Ed Cannon, USA
John Drummond, New Zealand
Sidney Ferreira, USA
George Gliba, USA
Rosely Gregio, Brazil
Dave Hostetter, USA
Javor Kac, Slovenia
Kevin Kilkenny, USA
Mike Linnolt, USA
Robert Lunsford, USA
Pierre Martin, Canada
Felix Martinez, USA
Ashley Matous, USA
Bert Matous, USA
Ted Nichols, USA
Gregg Pasterick, USA
Brian Shulist, Canada
Wes Stone, USA
Richard Taibi, USA
Harry Waldron, USA
Kim Youmans, USA
Jin Zhu, China

It was also great to hear that NAMN member Michael Boschat (Canada)
bagged his 30th SOHO comet, #364 on October 18th! Congratulations Mike!!

Below are the observing periods received by NAMN and provided to the
International Meteor Organization. A total of a little more than 59
