(meteorobs) Observing weather forecast improving for east coast...

Computer Models are now moving to keeping the high pressure over most of the
East Coast that's been persistent (and has caused the drought which has now
started) and the chances of clear weather Sunday morning are improving.

That said, no one should use weather data still this far out to make travel
plans, hotel reservations, or god forbid, get plane tickets.....

Based on the model links I gave out, in my experience:

1) 3 days out, you will have a pretty good idea if you're likely to be
completely socked in by clouds, completely clear, or have a chance...

2) 2 days out, you can begin thinking where you may want to relocate to see a
shower

3) I'd say on Friday night or Saturday morning (or even Saturday Afternoon if
you are lucky) you could hop in your car, no matter where you were in the US,
and based on computer model data and satellite pics, drive yourself to an area
of almost GUARANTEED clear skies. You can drive a long way on interstates in a
few hours.

The best satellite pic site is:

You can do zoom loops of any location you want to microanalyze clouds and their
movement over time...

I live in Maryland, and have relatives in Pennsylvania and Virginia Beach
Virginia, so there are two locations I have scouted. Unfortunately, I don't know
anyone in Ohio, and that's the other direction I can go if Maryland is going to
get socked in..and that's as far as I'm willing to drive west..

Anyone know any good observing locations in Ohio? I'll probably flop in a cheap
motel if I have to use that option.
