(meteorobs) Radio Leonids - New Mexico

Radio Leonid prospects - New Mexico

Prospects look pretty good for radio observation of any possible 1000 UT
Leonid outburst here in New Mexico on November 18. The radiant is well
situated for forward scatter and it is 3 am here at that time. The only
problem I foresee is possible saturation of meteors so that an individual
count cannot be established. If the meteors are fine dust particles then it
looks good but if there are many smoky meteors in the mix it might swamp
the radios.

We'll see.

For the possible 1800 UT peak the Leonid radiant is still well situated
above the horizon for reception but that hour is 11 am here and I am noting
some occaisional tropo cells that cause stations to fade in and out. Maybe
this tropo will clear out by the 18th. Hope so. I am getting plenty of
meteors in any case.

I can't stream reception online in realtime but will report my observations
as rapidly as possible.
