(meteorobs) Sporadic V Leonids.

Hi everyone,

While out watching/observing this morning I had a thought about something,
in reports etc.. how can you tell that the meteor observed was actually a
Leonid meteor? I know the speed/color is a big factor as I noted this
morning I saw a meteor coming from Leo but it's speed was quite a bit slower
than the "usual" leonid meteor that I have previously seen. How can someone
unfamiliar with the shower tell the difference between a leonid and a
sporadic meteor. On many occasions I have seen sporadic meteors that move
quite fast across the sky with a similar appearence to the leonids. Would it
be that during a course of an observation you would add this as a leonid
meteor, so not to get into lengthy analysis of the meteors?

Just a passing thought.

Goodluck to all this weekend, hope we get some good footage, looks like
cloud is a BIG problem for us this weekend although we might catch a few
breaks in the clouds on Monday morning (19th).

regards

Andrew W.
