(meteorobs) First peak at roughly 2000/hr?!



Early reports *and* http://dot-comet.com/viewflux/liveMntLemmon.html (which
is generatted on the fly from video data in Arizona) seem to agree that the
first peak is now past us and was pretty strong, with people seeing some
20 meteors per minute under good U.S. skies (i.e. half the peak rate of 1999).
The time of the maximum is still somewhat unclear - so far three of the four
models (see http://www.geocities.com/skyweek/mirror/230.html for a listing)
could still be right, while one has probably failed ...
