(meteorobs) Leonids - going and going and going and....

<B>2001 LEONIDS - </B><br>
The 2001 Leonids have apparently produced a very good shower, with the
rate approaching predictions (near storm level) during some brief
spikes. The general peak apparently was <U>much</U> broader than
expected, for 144 MHz was alive with signals for many hours.<br>
First reports from Europe indicate a good peak several hours before the
North American peak time. No specific North American reports have been
seen yet, as the shower appears to be continuing, even as the radiant is
setting here (around 1725 Z, signals were continuous from the southwest for
over 5 minutes). This is only a very preliminary report. Updates will be
posted on the MS Hot News page as more information is received. </P>
