(meteorobs) Anecdotal report from Costa Rica

A group led by CIENTEC of about 150 people met in the Pacific Coast - Port of
Caldera- hoping for better weather out of our usually cloudy November skies. A
few scientist, some experienced astronomy enthusiasts, families and groups of
students held on until 4 am (10 UT) -even under some drizzle- until there were
small clearings between the high dense clouds and the show became visible.
WOW!! (It had been a long night and most were frustrated and thought they would
go back with no viewing.)

The constellations of Orion and Gemini were the background and through them some
people reported about 180 in one hour (4-5 am./ 10 - 11 UT). They seem to come
in clusters, as other sites have reported. Some were quite bright and
impressively visible even under clouds. Dawn ended it, slowly.

Since only about 10% of the sky was somewhat clear, we guess there were about
1000- 1500 per hour in that period.

Our group was very excited... after failing to see anything both in 1999 and 2000.
Hope to read more results from other longitudes and peaks.
