(meteorobs) YOUKI Observations 11-17/18-01

        When I arrived at my site around 01:00 AM local time,
the sky was already popping with meteors.
My very first period, with any storm still a couple hours away,
was perhaps as good as any I've observed to date, rate-wise,
with 57 leonids and 8 SPO's.  Rates remained on the upswing
throughout the night, with a *very* noticable increase at
09:06UT.  From there forward, rates remained very strong
until daybreak.  My peak rate per minute was never as strong as
reported by some along the east coast, but I did have a single
minute period that had 17, at 10:08.  The peak, when it began to
occur, never seemed to bottom out but remained
quite broad, with noticeable highs around 10:08, 10:20,
and 10:42.  Daylight surely compromised many of the rates-per-
period from 5:30 EST on.
        While loading my car to drive out to my site, I left my
meteor kit on the ground then proceeded to run over it!!
Fortunately there was damge only to the box itself.
Like Bob Lunsford, I had tape-recorder troubles but I had brought
along a spare.  I used a shortwave to mark the time during
the peak and this worked very well!
