Re: (meteorobs) Re: J shaped train

Hello Barbara and all,
Unfortunately? the timeing is off Barbara.
Mine occured at 6:08 U.T and my mag. estimate was -4. The train was a
little over 2/3 of the way between Cephus and Cassiopeia. This was the
first fireball observed that night. Still, you do raise an interesting
question which I do not have the answer to allthough I have thought about
that before. If I remember correctly a metor burns 70-90 miles above earths
surface. Then we have the fact that the real path is different from the
apparent path. How this all fits in I will let someone else hopefully chime
in and answer.

Jeff,
Could we have observed the same fireball? The one that left the J shaped
train that
I can definitely time was a -5 that occurred at 4:20 am CST in Louisiana, it
lasted
for a long time, and it did become round after time. Glad to hear so many in
Fla got
a great show as well as we did in La. It had the curve underneath as well.
