(meteorobs) Leonids via FM - a report

Well I finally have gone through my recordings of the Leonid storm.
19/11/01
Here are some details:

Teac T-515 = 98.5
Sony ST-SA5ES = various
Harmon/Kardon TU-909 = 91.5 & 98.5
Sony XRS-300 car radio = 93.9
Realistic Pro-2004 scanner = 46.17 + 57.25/57.26

These stats based on 98.5, which was by far the best frequency.

Time listened 3am - 11am local DST.
Method - By Ear.
Storm peak - between 4am - 6am.
Longest train = 6.24mins

No of Trains: 112 (not counting small trains < 20secs & multiple
layering of trains)

No of Dopplers: 98.5=23, 93.9=3, 57.26=2, Total=28

46.17 noted in 3 distinct large clusters of trains lasting 10mins,
12mins & 7mins.

I certainly have a great record of the event, filling 5 CDs nicely.

Thank You
Cheers Geoff Wolfe
