Re: (meteorobs) Fewer fireballs from LEO 2001 (China) than LEO 1998 (USA)?

I observed the 1998 shower from Europe and 2001 from the US, so
the later was not the same trail you saw.

Despite much lower ZHR rates, actual fireball rates in 1998 were
much higher. With radiant heights between 20 and 40 degrees
above horizon I saw 34 fireballs in 1.26 h Teff. Later with radiant
above 50 degrees I saw 108 fireballs in 1.15 hours. Yep, that is
almost ONE HUNDRED fireballs per hour! :) Too bad it was not
clear the whole night.

For the 2001 I saw about 100 fireballs in 5 hours teff which
translates to 20 fireballs/hour on average.

Clear skies!
