(meteorobs) Geminid reporting to IMO

Dear meteor observers,

Good conditions are expected for the Geminids on December 14.
Please note the following items for your meteor report which
should be sent to

     visual@imodot net

- A breakdown into short observing periods are needed. A good
choice is a duration of 10 minutes per period.

- Magnitude distributions of GEMINIDS should also be separated
into these 10-minute periods, or two 10-minute periods.
Always remember: Too short periods are not harmful; but too
long periods hide a lot of information.

- Please do not send special PC formats like WORD or EXCEL.
Use for example Windows' Notepad to create your report.
A template is at www.imodot net/visual/imoform.html. If your
report is about in this style, it will be fine.

- When typing in your magnitude distributions, use '0' for
columns with no meteors. This makes the distributions
  unambiguous.

- The analysis of meteor showers is based on single-observer's
counts. You can observe in a group, but every observer shouyld
take his own notes. It does not matter whether two people
saw the same meteor. They each note an meteor.

This way we can maximize the scientific output of the observa-
tions and minimize the work on utilizing data. Thank you for
your cooperation and good luck for the Geminids!

Best wishes, Rainer
