(meteorobs) Re: NWM2001Dec12/13 Geminids looking good

>I saw 56 Geminids in the hour 426 - 526 EST (926 - 1026 UT) with sky LM7.3.

Correction -- that was one hour earlier. The hour above still had 50
Geminids, sky LM7.3. Better than it seemed, for that hour started with a
slump after the good prior hour. But it eventually turned active again. I
just did another preliminary count when a bit more rested. Need to sleep
some more before tonight. Joan is going along, and we will start at 926 PM.

Weather looks quite good, although I wouldn't be surprised to have some
brief cloudy periods. The biggest concern is fog. Humidity is near
saturation late at night with little or no wind. We will observe the
Geminids until we get fogged out. The prior night had almost no fog.
Temperature is very comfortable in the mid-60's F but we will need our
cardboard fans for mosquitoes. I had to fan away for most of the last 3
hours this morning. Helps keep the glasses defogged also.

It would be nice to start a little earlier to get more earth grazers but I
need to rest and go for 80-90 Geminids/hour in the prime midnight-to-4AM hours.
