Subject: (meteorobs) Geminids From India

Hello this is Ankur Puranik from India, Mumbai (Bombay) 18° 58.002' North,

72° 49.998' East
My report is as follows

A short report on Geminids  13th night through14th morning.

Observation time :  01: 00 to 03:00 IST (Indian Standard Time  )     [7:30UTC to 9:30 UTC]

Location : India, Mumbai ( 18° 58.002' North, 72° 49.998' East )

Medium level city light pollution.

Total no of meteros seen : 52 geminids + 2 sporadic = 54 total.

Magnitude varied between -1 to -2.

One bright one seen at 1:35( IST) Mag : -4.

The activity decreased drastically after 2: 30 IST.

Comments : Though the show was not as good as the leonids of the last month, it was pretty satisfying. And being located in the prime city, I have missed out the faint ones because of light pollution. But I must say since that we all were lucky that the moon had gone for a vacation.

Any ways all the best to people in central america for the forth comming annular solar eclipe.

regards,

Ankur Puranik
