(meteorobs) IMO METEOR SUMMARY REPORT, 15/16-Dec-2001, GRALE
Here's a more timely report on the Geminids... Still impressive rates this
night from the GEMs, even two days after their peak. But the fainter GEMs
had begun to predominate, of course - and note that rates were declining.
Anyway, in any normal year the Geminids really are my favorite shower. It
is just too bad that I rarely get to see their maximum from up here! :(
Thanks to Bruce Berger and Mike Aramini of ATMoB for "keeping me company"
on the lawnchairs while I did these counts. Meteor observing can be even
more fun, when you do it in a small and interested group, for sure!
Clear skies,
Lew Gramer

GENERAL COMMENTS ABOUT SESSION - Use as many lines as needed below this one...
================================================================================
Seeing tonight was just 3 or 4 of a possible 10.
Low temperature 24oF, wind 5kt gusting to 15kt.
"DCV" is Distance from Center of Vision, a proposed
measure of individual perception.
Average DCV for all meteors this session: 27.714
First period watched with ATMoB member Bruce Berger.
Second period watched with Mike Aramini.
Bruce had the following star counts during his observing:
Field 8 = 10, Field 4 = 11, (LM = 5.9 for Bruce)
Session was ended by encroaching Ci and Cc from South.
