   This is worth a try during a meteor storm like the Leonids.  I would
think the acquisition rate during a normal shower would be very low however
because of the short time exposure.  What magnitude will you camera record
with a 30 second un-guided exposure?  Also, how many frames can you get on a
chip?

Has anyone had any experience with capturing meteors on a digital camera
such as the Sony F707. It seems you can take 30 sec. exposures. I was hoping
you could use the MPEG format with it and take a series of 30 sec.shots to
form a movie. Any opinions on the camera or a similar process.

My fear is that the MPG compression would clean all the faint meteors right=
 out of existence. For that reason, I don't think that any MPG camera is sui=
table for meteor work.<BR>
