(meteorobs) Quadrantid observation Jan 2/3 (ATAJU)

Hi!

Jure, Javor and I went under the sky last night to observe
early Quadrantid activity. The sky was quite brightly lit by the
75% Moon, so we went up in the hills to avoid low level haze. We
wound up around 800m high near Mt. Crnivec. The sky was quite
transparent with LM counts ranging from 5.7 to 6.3. I was facing
north to avoid the Moon's disturbing glare. In 3.11h teff
I saw a total of 44 meteors. Not too shabby. It would've
been better had the landscape not been covered by snow!
Anyway, the summary:

Period F	teff	LM	QUA	COM	DCA	Spor
00:31-01:33UT	1.00	1.01	5.93	2	1	0	8
01:33-02:36UT	1.00 1.02	5.83	9	1	0	4
02:36-03:42UT	1.00 1.08	5.81	11	0	0	8

Magnitude distribution:
QUA:	-1(1.5) 0(1.5) +1(3.5) +2(4.5) +3(7) +4(4) +5(0)
COM:	-2(1) +1(1)
Spor: -1(1.5) 0(4.5) +1(3) +2(5) +3(5.5) +4(0.5) +5(0)

Clear skies!

Jure A.
