(meteorobs) Re: French fireball obs (Re: Observation January 18/19 2002)

Dear Jeremie,

The date and time are slightly off, but a very bright fireball has been observed on the evening of January 17, not 19, at 19:15:22 UTC, from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, with also a report from central France. This was a fireball appearing in the Dutch-German border area. It was bright enough to be visible through the thin cloud cover that covered most of the Netherlands and Belgium that evening, and still cast shadows. Fragemtation has also been reported. A bulletin on this fireball is to be found at:

Best wishes,

Hi Pierre and you all !

A french guy has reported the observation from west of France, of a bright meteor, on Jan 19th, around 16:15 UT.
Unfortunately, he is not an amator astronomer, but it should be impressive, so he wrote us to ask what it could be, and we are still waiting for some more details.
Does anybody else have seen such an unusual "activity" ?

Thanks !

Jeremie VAUBAILLON
