(meteorobs) Meteor-triggered Transient Atmospheric Electrical Phenomena?

http://www.fma-research.com/Sprites99/CHAPTER-IX.pdf

"On 2 August 1998 at 0444 UTC a meteor entered the atmosphere and /appeared/
to trigger a sprite followed by a jet-like feature which returned up the
ionized meteor trail (Suszcynsky et al., 1999). Whether the meteor
/actually/ triggered the sprite cannot be determined. No apparent lightning
could be correlated with this event in the NLDN records although there was a
+CG 120 milliseconds prior to the sprite in the appropriate location. The
estimated range from the YFRS was 375 km. An infrasonic signal arrived at
Boulder at 0506 UTC and continued for about ten minutes (Figure 3). The
sprite/meteor azimuths and the infrasonic source direction overlapped..."
