(meteorobs) Observations May 23
I was able to observe
during the one-hour moon-free period this morning. Activity was light,
with five meteors observed, four being plotted between about 4:00 and 5:15 AM
local time. None were brighter than +1.
Its been a while since I
did any plotting and I fumbled for over two minutes trying to record the first
meteor! The next two were easier but the last meteor took over a minute
and a half easily to plot. The meteors observed were swift -- one had a
speed of five.
The skies were very transparent but I don't believe
my eyes ever fully light adapted -- the red filter on my torch was allowing too
much light. Once the waxing moon set the sky lit up with stars and I spent
my time reaquainting myself with Ophiuchus.
I'll post my report
as soon as it is completed.
