Thomas and Shelby,
I dont think you probably can tell sporsdic E propogation
and meteor echoes by listening. To tell sporadic E you need to look at
ionograms or at least study the reduced FoEs published for reduced iniosondes.
A list of online ionosondes is given here. None that nearer New Mexico
than Dyer AFB in Texas and thats not available at the moment.
