(meteorobs) Observation report July 4/5

I am currently attending the AAVSO annual meeting at Waikoloa Beach on the Kona coast of Hawaii's Big Island. After enjoying the 4th of July fireworks show, I decided to try a short meteor session from the beach. Reclining in the chair, I was pleased to see a clear mag 6.2 sky above, thanks to a still relatively sparsely developed stretch of coastline here. The center of our galaxy in Sagittarius was at a high elevation and quite spectacular. A nice background for the observing session!

I saw 6 meteors in 30min. 4 SPO and one each of SAG and TOP. Nothing spectaculr or noteworthy, but nice to see some decent activity in the early evening hours.

Clear skies & Aloha!
