(meteorobs) Perseids from Oregon, Aug. 8/9 thru 11/12

So far, I've made Perseid counts for four straight mornings
(hoping to make it five!) For the first three, I was at
the Oregon Star Party east of Prineville, and tore myself
away from the telescopes for 1-2 hours each morning
to count. The last morning was at my home in Chiloquin,
which was more affected by forest fire smoke.

The Oregon Star Party had nice skies after some high smoke
on Thursday night. Lots of folks were enjoying the meteors
with oohs and aahs erupting all over the field Thursday and
Friday nights. I think a lot of people were sleeping on
Saturday night, as it was quieter. I didn't get any
fireballs during my official counts (of course, I could have
called the -2 on Saturday morning a -3...). There was a
very nice -6 Perseid with a couple of bursts in twilight
later on Saturday morning.
