(meteorobs) Perseids from Oregon, Aug. 12/13




I got 3 hours observing in on what I hoped would be the 
best night to observe the Perseids.  It was, and again, 
although rates were a little lower than I hoped for, they 
seemed consistent with 1998 postmax.  Skies were a little
better, with still some smoke and a bit of low-level auroral
activity around 8:15UT (1:15am PDT).

Several nice fireballs, including a yellow -5 and a violet
-3 near the radiant.  Also an intensely orange mag. 0 Kappa
Cygnid.
