(meteorobs) Leonid reports, Part 4

Reporting on the Leonids - PART IV
==================================

If the activity of the Leonids is not too high, say
below 20 meteors per minute, the report can be of
enhanced value if other meteor showers are given,
too. The most prominent of them are the Taurids (TAU)
which have a twin-radiant between Aldebaran and the
Pleiades. They should be remarkably slow compared
with the Leonids.

The other shower of interest is the alpha-Monocerotid
shower with a radiant 4 degrees south of Procyon. The
alpha-Monocerotids are almost as fast as the Leonids.

The meteor numbers from these radiants are very low,
but if observing reports discriminate them from the
sporadics, they can be very helpful in studying the
weak showers as well. Because of the large number of
observations coming in, we obtain a good statistics
apart from the Leonids.

Here is an example for a full report with magnitudes
and shower discrimination. Distinction of the two
branches of the Taurids will hardly be possible. I'd
like to recommend to note only 'TAU'.

Please note again that text fonts with variable character
width, like Times or Arial, make the tables' formatting
depend on the actual font at the side of the recipient.
Make sure you use '-'characters for empty columns, this
ensures unambiguity.
