The Santa Ana winds are suppose to be around 20 to 35 mph....a real pain in the butt to observe under. I have plotted during santa ana wind conditions and I don't recommend the usage of any pencil and paper methods. Probably tape recorders will be of the best bet if you can shield from the wind somehow. Otherwise you will get a lot of noise that may drown out the speech. If you use cots, you might want to find a fairly heavy rock of about 15 lb size to place near by. So when you get up during a call of nature or something, you can place the stone on the cot....otherwise be prepared for a foot race.

With a very bright moon...good luck with getting 6.5 skies.
