(meteorobs) LEO from south east France
Dear friends,
Please find my LEO report (one min
counting).
Once more, the weather was clear only over
Provence and Languedoc, the other parts of the country being almost clouded
out.
The sky was very fine with a LM of 5.2 to 5.3
increasing to 6.0 when the moon sets behind some mountains near 05H30
UT.
There was very few clouds until 2H10 UT, then the
sky begin to cover with clouds coming from the montagne de Lure and Mont
Ventoux. Then, after 2H45 UT, we had not other choice than going elsewhere,
to the south, which was not an easy task because of the equipment already set up
(cameras, eq mounts, PC and video ...).
It was not before 3H56 UT (just a dozen min
before the predicted peak time), that I began to count again under a 100 % clear
sky, some 10 km to the south. Just in time.
The best minutes were at 0404 (15 LEO), and the
after a slowing time, again, a second peak at 0412 (16 LEO) and 0413 (17
LEO).
Not so great than the rate observed by Jure, but
still a very good observing time and a great show, despite the
moon.
The rates then decrease quickly to 5/min until
dawn.
