(meteorobs) Observation November 2/3, 2002 from Slovenia (late report)

Hi All,

now that the thing have settled after the Leonids I thought I would
post my observation from early November.

The sky was unusually clear on the evening of November 2/3 so I
decided to go to our youngest Team member Jaka. At the
beginning the limiting magnitude was above +6.5 which is
exceptional for this site. We took a look at a number deep sky
objects using Jaka's 114-mm Newtonian and binoculars. Also,
Saturn was quite decent throug a small telescope while Jupiter was
just rising.
Seeing a number of casual meteors during that time we decided to
conduct some meteor observations. The activity was good with 6
shower members and 10 sporadic meteors. There were no bright
meteors that night with the brightest being a +1 magnitude Orionid
at the Camelopardalis/Cepheus border. The most beautiful meteor
was an orange +3 magnitude Southern Taurid in Eridanus/Orion
that ended in sparks.
Note: two undecided Taurids (TAU) could not be plotted as I did not
have all Brno charts at hand.

Clear skies!
Javor.
