Quite a fascinating story! The date and time coincide closely with 
the fireball recorded on April 17 at 21:24 CST at Regina. It was a 
magnitude -8 and fairly long duration, and a long tail. It's about
a 36 hour difference, but might be somehow related. Could be a nice
fall/find.
